Bob Bruninga's site WB4APR
Bob has much info. However, Bob is not a professional web developer, so it's not the easiest site to find things on.
Poke around anyway. He also has much on his student's satellite projects.

TAPR Tucson Amateur Packet Radio Corp. The "official" word, but more than you'd ever need.
The goal of TAPR is to support R&D efforts in the area of amateur digital communications.
Much info: http://www.tapr.org/
MAP-CENTRIC SITES See stations on maps, stations near, messages, raw data and more.
For any sites that need a call, if mine doesn't show up due to inactivity, try WB4APR-9

A brand new OpenAPRS site which allows rather free form searches:
http://www.oaprs.net/search
You don't need wild card characters and it searches all of the APRS raw data.

How to send EMAIL: http://www.aprs-is.net/Email.aspx
There are many different products and software packages for the PC and Mac. The APRS Wiki should have them all.
If you want to get into a little more detail, while there are several papers on basics, Alan Crosswell, N2YGK, has what looks like a pretty simple explanations of basics. However, REMEMBER, RELAY,WIDE is no longer used. The rest of the ideas should help you understand things.
